Discover the medieval Loket Castle and the royal spa town of Karlovy Vary in one captivating journey. Immerse yourself in ancient legends, stroll through the narrow streets of historic towns, taste the healing waters of famous springs, and admire the breathtaking landscapes of Western Bohemia. This tour is the perfect blend of history, architecture, and aristocratic relaxation.
Starting Point:
Our guide will be waiting for you in front of your hotel.
Embark on a journey that will transport you from the medieval atmosphere of the ancient Loket Castle to the refined world of Karlovy Vary’s royal spa culture. Discover the castle’s mighty stone walls, timeless legends, and streets where time seems to stand still, before strolling through an elegant city renowned for its healing springs, inspiring landscapes, and centuries-old traditions of aristocratic leisure.
In the morning, we depart from Prague and head to one of the most picturesque castles in the Czech Republic—Loket. Even from a distance, its grandeur is striking as it rises above the winding Ohře River. The castle looks like something out of a fairy tale about knights and kings, with its imposing walls, Gothic towers, and mystical atmosphere. Charles IV once stayed here, and its dungeons held prisoners whose chilling stories are still passed down through generations. We will walk through its ancient halls, admire historic artifacts, knightly armor, grand chandeliers, and old books imbued with the spirit of the past. In the underground chambers, you will feel the cold embrace of a medieval prison and hear eerie tales of mysterious shadows that roam the corridors.
After exploring the castle, we will take a leisurely walk through the charming town of Loket. Its narrow streets, small squares, and cozy cafés create an inviting and tranquil ambiance. You will have the opportunity to take stunning photos against the backdrop of the fortress walls, visit souvenir shops, or simply breathe in the fresh air of the West Bohemian hills.
Next, we travel to Karlovy Vary, a city where aristocrats, artists, and kings once found inspiration and healing. We will take a stroll along the main promenade, lined with elegant colonnades sheltering famous thermal springs. You will learn the history of the Vřídlo Geyser, whose steaming waters erupt up to 12 meters high, and taste the healing mineral water from various springs, each with its own unique properties. Along the way, we will share stories of how this spa town became a beloved retreat for European monarchs, writers, and musicians.
Following our walk, we will stop for lunch at one of the city’s cozy restaurants, where you can savor traditional Czech cuisine and sample the famous Becherovka—a herbal liqueur known as Karlovy Vary’s “thirteenth spring.”
You will then have free time to soak in the city’s unique atmosphere—stroll along its charming bridges, browse for exquisite Moser crystal, taste crispy Karlovy Vary wafers, or simply relax at a café overlooking the Teplá River.
By evening, we return to Prague, but the enchantment of this journey through time—from medieval legends to aristocratic splendor—will stay with you for a long time. This tour is the perfect blend of history, nature, and Czech culture, offering a chance to step into a royal era and experience the magic of Karlovy Vary.
Important! Recommendations for a comfortable journey :
To make a walk in Prague a pleasure, choose comfortable shoes and clothes according to the weather. The city’s cobblestones and hilly streets require comfortable footwear, and the changeable weather means being prepared for surprises. It’s worth taking warm clothes in the cooler seasons, and a hat and sunglasses in summer. Don’t forget an umbrella – it can start raining unexpectedly in Prague.
The tour includes a long walk, but it will be comfortable even for unprepared travellers. It is only important to take care of a small rucksack for personal belongings and a bottle of water in advance.
Lunch is not included, but the guide will be happy to recommend tried and tested restaurants with traditional Czech cuisine where you can enjoy the best local specialities.
With these simple tips, the walk will be even more enjoyable and your Prague experience will be unforgettable!
