Starting Point: Loretánské Square

Address: Loretánské nám., 118 00 Praha 1-Hradčany

Prague is a city where every corner is imbued with an atmosphere of romance and mystery, and where the past does not just live in the ancient walls, but literally breathes in every alleyway. Here, in the labyrinth of narrow streets and cosy squares, echoes of royal processions, whispers of lovers, voices of poets and artists can be heard. We invite you to embark on a mesmerising journey where we will immerse ourselves in Prague’s history, see its most picturesque corners, learn about its legends and experience the special charm of the old city.

Our walk starts in Nový Svet, one of the most secluded and mysterious corners of Prague, hidden in the shadow of the mighty walls of Prague Castle. This neighbourhood seems to have remained untouched by time, retaining its quiet, almost rustic atmosphere. Narrow cobbled streets, tiny houses with red tiled roofs, ancient lanterns that seem to illuminate not the streets but the roads to the past. Alchemists, astronomers, artists and wandering poets once lived here, drawing inspiration from the silence and solitude. We will learn what secrets these houses hold, why this neighbourhood was called ‘the new light’ and what amazing destinies are intertwined in its winding alleys.

From there, we will walk to Hradcany Square, a place where the grandeur of aristocratic palaces meets the history of the Czech crown. Here, amidst the majestic facades, ambassadors were once received, the fate of Europe was decided, and in the ballrooms the clinking of glasses and the rustle of expensive dresses could be heard. We will pass by the Schwarzenberg, Tuscan and Archbishop’s Palaces and learn about the royal intrigues that took place here and how the fates of these buildings are linked to the history of Bohemia.

From here we will start our descent down Nerudova Street, one of the most picturesque and ancient streets of the city. This is not just a road down – it is a path through the centuries, where every building, every signboard, every balcony tells its own story. There were no house numbers here – they were distinguished by unique signs:‘By the Three Violins’, “By the Golden Wheel”, “By the Red Lion”.We will learn what secrets these houses hold, why this neighbourhood was called ‘the new light’ and what amazing destinies are intertwined in its winding alleys.

Once downstairs, we’ll find ourselves on Malostranská Square, the place where life in medieval Prague boomed. Here stands St Nicholas Church, one of the greatest Baroque gems in Europe, where Mozart’s music was once played, and the dome of the church rises above the rooftops of the city, as if guarding its peace.

Then we will go to the Church of Our Lady of Victory, which houses Prague’s famous Jezulatko, a wax figure of the Christ child dressed in luxurious vestments. We will see a unique collection of his hand-embroidered vestments and learn what miracles are attributed to this shrine.

Moving on, we will find ourselves on Kampa Island, a paradisiacal corner of Prague surrounded by the Vltava River and the Devil’s Canal. Here the magic is reflected in the water and the old houses seem to grow right out of the river waves. We will walk across the Lovers’ Bridge, learn what romantic stories are associated with this place and why couples leave their locks here to seal their love.

We will finish our walk in the beautiful Campa Park, where you can feel the special rhythm of the old town among the trees and historical buildings. Here, in the shade of centuries-old trees, the best views of Prague can be found, while the water carries away the reflections of bridges and domes, creating a sense of timeless beauty.

This tour is a journey into the very soul of Prague. We will see the city that is not in the tourist guides, discover corners where time slows down, feel the breath of the past and the charm of romance. Join us to follow in the footsteps of Prague’s romantics and discover the most magical side of the old city!

Příběhy o umělcích, básnících, láskách i ztracených časech – to všechno na tak malém prostoru. Skvělé a citlivé vedení.
