Address: Hradčanské nám., 118 00 Praha 1-Hradčany

Lesser Town (Malá Strana) is the heart of old Prague, where every stone holds centuries of history, and narrow streets lead to majestic palaces, ancient churches, and picturesque riverbanks. This district seems to be designed for leisurely strolls, allowing visitors to experience the era of kings, craftsmen, aristocrats, and bohemian artists. We invite you on an exciting journey that will unveil the secrets, legends, and architectural masterpieces of Lesser Town.

Our journey begins at Hradčany Square, one of the most significant locations in Prague. It is the historic heart of Hradčany, surrounded by magnificent palaces that once served as residences for noble families and religious leaders. This is where history was made, dynastic marriages were arranged, and political decisions were shaped.

One of the most striking buildings here is the Schwarzenberg Palace, an outstanding example of Renaissance architecture with unique sgraffito decoration, creating the illusion of three-dimensional ornaments. Once home to the powerful Schwarzenberg family, today it houses the National Gallery, displaying remarkable collections of historic paintings.

Nearby stands the Tuscany Palace, initially owned by a wealthy merchant and later acquired by the Tuscan branch of the Habsburg dynasty. This elegant building played a crucial role in European diplomacy, hosting numerous negotiations and political events.

Completing the square’s architectural ensemble is the Archbishop’s Palace, the official residence of the head of the Catholic Church in Bohemia. Its imposing Baroque façade and luxurious interiors reflect the powerful influence of the Church in Czech history.

Descending from Hradčany Square, we enter Nerudova Street, one of the most picturesque and historic streets in Prague. It is famous for its decorative house signs, which replaced house numbers until the 18th century. Some of the most notable signs include “At the Three Violins,” once home to famous violin makers, “At the Golden Wheel,” linked to alchemy legends, and “At the Two Suns,” the birthplace of Czech writer Jan Neruda, after whom the street was named.

This street was once home to aristocrats, diplomats, and craftsmen. Today, it is lined with charming cafés, antique shops, and small museums, preserving the unique atmosphere of old Prague.

Our journey continues to Lesser Town Square, the vibrant center of the district, surrounded by stunning palaces, historic townhouses, and grand churches. Dominating the square is St. Nicholas Church, one of the most breathtaking Baroque churches in Europe. Its monumental dome, elaborate frescoes, and magnificent organ (once played by Mozart) create an awe-inspiring atmosphere.

Nearby, we will visit the Church of Our Lady Victorious, home to one of Prague’s most revered relics – the Infant Jesus of Prague. This small statue of the Christ Child is believed to have miraculous powers, attracting thousands of pilgrims each year.

Heading towards the riverbank, we cross a small bridge to reach Kampa Island, often called “the Venice of Prague” due to its scenic canals, hidden courtyards, and old water mills.

One of the island’s landmarks is the Devil’s Stream Mill Wheel, once powering local mills, and the John Lennon Wall, a colorful symbol of freedom, artistic expression, and peace.

Our journey concludes at Charles Bridge, one of Prague’s most iconic landmarks. This medieval bridge is adorned with unique statues, each telling a different story. The most famous is the statue of St. John of Nepomuk, which, according to legend, grants wishes to those who touch its base.

To end the tour on a magical note, we embark on a scenic boat ride through the canals of Prague Venice. As we glide under ancient bridges and past historic buildings, we will experience the city from a whole new perspective, seeing hidden courtyards and picturesque spots inaccessible from the streets.

Important! Recommendations for a comfortable journey :

To make a walk in Prague a pleasure, choose comfortable shoes and clothes according to the weather. The city’s cobblestones and hilly streets require comfortable footwear, and the changeable weather means being prepared for surprises. It’s worth taking warm clothes in the cooler seasons, and a hat and sunglasses in summer. Don’t forget an umbrella – it can start raining unexpectedly in Prague.

The tour includes a long walk, but it will be comfortable even for unprepared travellers. It is only important to take care of a small rucksack for personal belongings and a bottle of water in advance.

Lunch is not included, but the guide will be happy to recommend tried and tested restaurants with traditional Czech cuisine where you can enjoy the best local specialities.

With these simple tips, the walk will be even more enjoyable and your Prague experience will be unforgettable!

Гарна прогулянка, підходить навіть якщо ти вже був у Празі раніше. Деталі і маленькі вулички вразили найбільше.
